We celebrated our 65th Independence!

15th August 1947, a date remembered, cherished and celebrated as a day of independence from British rule. The day is marked by flag hoisting, parades, singing national anthem and playing patriotic songs over all parts of India. This year during Independence day I was lucky enough to be a part and witness the celebration in Kolkata. The Red road was decade in Tri-colours , the whole ambiance was enough to give me goosebumps. The celebration began with hoisting of flag and singing national anthem. After which began the parade, motor bike formation, tableaux display and performance by students of various schools on different patriotic song. The effort of each and every person to make the celebration worthy was revealed by their performance but, I personally feel its a very small tribute that we can pay to the sacrifice made by the brave sons and daughters of Mother India. Those courageous souls tho didn't think once before sacrificing their life just for the sake that their next generation will breath the air of freedom. Their stories and struggles shouldn't be restricted to History books that are read and forgotten Coz each and every Indian of today is indebted to each and every freedom fighter... A salute to them and thanks for what they did for Us !Sharing some pics of this occasion with you all.

Injustice has to end.. & fast !

Our maid was terribly unhappy today. While working she constantly blamed God and her sister's misfortune. On asking the reason she burst out "My sister already has two female child and today she delivered the 3rd..She and her damn luck..The husband and her in-laws are very angry..They are planning to leave the child in hospital itself" I was still in bed when her painful shriek reached my ears.. & her statement made me immovable.. My heart pained for the little child who was barely some hours old....innocent & unaware of the world she has landed into.. The people who have brought her to this world wish to abandon her within hours  merely b'coz of the reason that she is a GIRL !!!!!! Where is a girl lagging behind nowadays???? She is excelling in education, competing on same platform with the "So-called superior" men to get job and excelling there as well.. They are managing work with home.. Giving birth to new life and fighting every se

We will miss you always

Her eyes turned red...a tiny drop of tear made an escape and rolled down the cheek..  I blankly stared at my Mom who continued cutting vegetables with eyes full of tears... My mind quickly revisited the topics we were discussing.. "Was it any of my statement that hurt her so intensely? Stupid just remember and tell you didn't mean anything to hurt her" , echoed in my mind continuously. But all the while I was just giving her detail of how my day went. I quizzically looked at her, loss of word myself. As if to answer my unasked question she turned to me, gave a faint smile and said "This song was her favourite ! I miss her so much". I quickly grabbed the remote of TV to increase the volume. We both listened and none of us spoke till the song ended. Loosing the most loved person of your life is always heartbreaking. It has been 8 years since my grandma's death but the pain is so very fresh. Series of flashback played in my mind..The name by which sh

"The First Shower of Monsoon"

I was travelling by bus, busy playing game on mobile when a drop fell on my cheeks.. startled I looked through the window to find it was drizzling! A thought echoed in my mind "In this fast pace life and super busy schedule we often forget to even admire the beauty of nature".  The sky looked so beautiful..loaded with clouds -at some place dark black, at some other part grey, other sides white with a tinge of orange in it. As the rain gained momentum the scene outside also changed. Some people rushed to find a shade, some roadside kids jumped and played in rain, a few couples walked on the pavement holding hands.they seemed so irrespective and unaware of the changing situation around and I inside the bus held my hands and face out to feel the rain drops. The air filled up with the sweet fragrance of wet mud..It was pure bliss !!!  Nature truly has immense pleasure to offer it only depends on us whether we find time to experience these tiny drop of joy!
